The 2007 NHRA POWERade and Lucas Oil drag racing series events have begun and the fight has started for the points and the gold at the end of the rainbow! With two NHRA POWERade events in the books! Going into the biggest race on the east coast coming up in Gainesville Fla. March 15th through the 18th there will be all kinds of brand new car debuts in Florida plus some first time in competition new parts.

In Top Fuel Hot Rod Fuller of Las Vegas was not even sure he would be racing this year for David Powers Homes and Valvoline it is a good thing Mr Powers decided to run two TF dragsters the other with ex AA/FC driver Whit Bazemore with Matco Tools behind Whit. This two car team has one car Hot Rod Fuller in the Points lead coming out of CSK Nationals where Hot Rod has not been beaten two years a row in Top Fuel plus his win three years ago in Lucas Oil Sportsman Series win in Super Gas and team mate Whit is in fourth place. Brandon Bernstein in the Budweiser, Lucas Oil dragster is in second place with his R/U at Pomona and his Semi Final showing at the CSK Nats Tim and Kim Richards have the Bud dragster running great! Third place is held down by 2006 AAA Rookie of Year J.R. Todd in the Tuttle Brothers Skull Shine Dragster from Hesperia Ca. winning the beginning race at the 2007 NHRA POWERade Winternationals, but now with Jimmy Walsh and his right hand man taking the big $$$ from Kenny Bernstein to tune his struggling Monster AA/FC Dodge Charger which has made over 50 attempts to get down the track with Ray Alley and Johnny West in charge have both beening fired! Well what will now happen with the Tuttle’s dragster West has come over there with Jim Head helping them. We hope J.R. Todd has the mount to continue battling for the Championship. Fifth place is held by Melanie Troxel in the Morgan Lucas Evan Knoll racing POW dragster! sixth place is held down by 3 x NHRA top fuel champion Tony Schumacher who has lost in the first round Winter Nationals and Semi’s at the CSK this is the dragster to beat Alan Johnson has the U S Army dragster running Low e.t.s at the first two events but have yet to win a final round yet in 2007. David Grubnic Has the most point’s out of the Kalitta Air Force team cars! Dave is in 7th place Doug Kalitta in 9th all four team cars including the AA/FC driven by Scott Kalitta all lost in the first round along with Hillary Will at the CSK Nationals in Az. this is not what the team was looking for on Connie Kalitta’s 69th birthday during the CSK Nats. Look for this team to rebound at the Gators! In 8th place is Bob “Boom Boom” Vandergriff in the UPS Brown Top Fuel dragster. 10th place is held down by Cory Mc Clenathen in the Carrier Bros Fram Autolite dragster! Two Race’s down and 15 races to go until the countdown to four Indy Mac Tools U.S. Nationals then Countdown to Two Las Vegas AC Delco Nationals at LVMS there is plenty of time for the points to change. But after Two events out of 23 total NHRA POWERade events the Points Leaders going into the Gators are Robert Hight in the John Force Racing AAA, Castrol, Brand Source Ford Mustang with Robert’s two R/U he is leading ex team mate Tony Pedregon by six points Tony reset the NHRA e.t record for AA/FC by backing up his 4.659 e.t. as were points leader Hight ripped off a fantastic 4.63 for the quickest run in HRA history but the Jimmy Prock tuned Stang could not back it up.

Tony Pedregon with his Q Power Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Dickie V. tuning left CSK Nats with the Record and the Golden Wally! Gary Scelzi in the Don Schumacher racing Oakley Dodge Charger in third place as Gary got the Win over Hight at the opening race in Pomona Winternationals. Teammate Ron Capps in the Brut Dodge is in fourth place. Mike Ashley in Evan Knoll Dodge Charger is in 5th place Hight’s J.F. racing Team Mate Eric is in 6th place in the AAA Castrol Ford Mustang but fellow team mate Rookie Ashley Force and 14 time NHRA POWERade AAFC Champion John Force both outside the top 10 in points they both are going to have to battle all the top ten cars to get into the top eight by Indy. For both Force’s there are plenty of races to go but it is a up hill fight as all the teams are shooting to be in the top eight. Jeff Arend in 7th place in the Worsham racing CSK blue team have gotten into the first two races but just barley the red car of Del Worsham is struggling this is not what the CSK team leader was thinking he would be out of the top 10 but since his crash at the AAA Auto Club Finals in 2006 the team seems like they have lost there tune up!Tim Wilkerson is 9th place and Tim has the Chevy Monte Carlo running great now if he could rip off some of his power during eliminations he will be fighting to stay in 8th place. 9th is held down by Bob Gilbertson in the Autolite Dodge Charger, Bob who will be running two cars the other being his IHRA AAFC team which will be the Trick Tank Outlaw Dodge Good Luck in trying to run both series as Bob is the only NHRA top Ten guy who has committed to both NHRA & IHRA! Tenth place is held down by independent racer Jim Head with is Toyota body and Dodge body he has run both this year as always, Head runs his funny car different then the others as Jim is always tinkering with his combo, but with Alan Johnson's help, Head should be in the thick of the battle all year!

Well in the Factory Door Cars Pro Stock can anybody take the number one or two away from the Ken Black racing Greg Anderson along with Jason line at GA racing out of North Carolina. Greg and Jason look as strong as they have been the last few season’s And have picked up at least 10th on the field they just went home after the season ending AAA Finals at Pomona and continued there hard work. They want to remain the cars to beat. But the Hemi’s of Alan Johnson and Richie Stevens look strong as does Erica Enders and Roger Brogdon both running Hemi’s from David Nickens! But 3rd place Kurt Johnson in his family’s Chevrolet Colbult with the help of A C Delco have won the 2nd race CSK Nationals on his driving job. Sitting in fourth place is Young Gun Dave Connolly in the Torco and Slammers Milk Chevy along with team mate Jeg Coughlin who is ninth place in the Slammers Milk and Jegs Performance parts Warehouse Chevy. The top three Pontiac’s are Greg Stanfield 5th place Mike Edward’s in his Young Life GTO 6th and 2x NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Champion in 7th . In Lucas Oil Sportsman Series there has been two or three events in Div 2 Div 4 and Div 7 well under way in the battles for each division titles there are so many great point’s battles in each div. you should go and look at them at NHRA.com.
